The last two murdered women raise to 1,000 the victims of macho barbarism in Spain since 2003
Two machista crimes committed in less than 48 hours end the life of Beatriz and Lisbete.
Alboraya and Ayamonte. The first, a Valencian municipality. The second, a Huelva city. Both points are separated 802 kilometers away, but they share the same horror: two sexist crimes committed in less than 48 hours. The two cases, which took place between the weekend and this Monday, would increase to 1,000 the number of women murdered at the hands of their partners or ex-partners since they began collecting data on this scourge in 2003.
The Government Delegation Gender Violence - the institution in charge of confirming each case - has not yet included these two events in the Statistical Fatalities for Gender Violence. Year 2019, but everything indicates that, in effect, these are cases of gender violence, as pointed out by local and regional authorities in both areas.
The finding of the body of the woman from Alboraya (the Valencian municipality) took place this Monday. She, Beatriz, was 29 years old. Her alleged killer is her husband, who committed suicide by throwing himself on the balcony of the house, from a fifth floor. The man also had self-injuries on his wrist and would have stuck a knife in his chest before jumping. It is expected that the autopsy on both bodies will be carried out this Tuesday at the Legal Medicine Institute of Valencia. Several were the authorities who soon condemned what happened and described it as a case of sexist violence.
The case of Ayamonte (the city of Huelva) goes back to Saturday. A couple of Cuban nationality was found dead at home. Lisbete was about 45 years old and worked in a florist's shop. He, 53, was a journalist for a Portuguese newspaper. They were separated, and that day he went to her house. Afterwards, the neighbors began to hear screams and blows.
